Quik Gets Exclusive with Kohl's
Kohl's, the crap clothing super-box with 669 stores in 40 states, has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Quiksilver for the Tony Hawk Clothing line. Apparently Tony is "really excited to . . . connect the culture of action sports with the Kohl's customers." Oh, we bet he's excited.

Adidas Sells Salomon To Amer Sports
We mentioned last week that Amer Sports was on a shopping spree, but we couldn't tell you who. Now it's official: Amer Sports is buying Salomon for $624 million. Included in the sale are: Salomon, Mavic, Bonfire, Arc Teryx and Cliche. Adidas shares were up seven percent on the news.

Burton Store To Open In October
According to a report from Newmark Real Estate Burton Snowboards has signed a 10-year lease on a 4,600-square-foot retail space at 106 Spring Street "in the heart of Soho" where annual rent is in the $200 a square foot range. That's only $77k a month (or $9 million over 10 years). Apparently, that's what it costs to be in "a trendy, cool 'hot' area of New York." (Editor's Note: Thanks to everyone who pointed out the error in the original post. It's fixed now.)

Quiksilver Goes Skiing
In an extremely odd merger purchase, Quiksilver has obtained 49.5 percent of the voting rights of the French sporting goods company Rossignol. The Boix-Vives family, former owners of Rossignol, will get a 30 percent stake in Quiksilver, plus some cash. Quik closed down $1.21.

The WestStar bank in Vail Village was robbed at 10:10 March 21, 2005 by two men wearing ski masks and black snowboard boots. Both are described as having accents, possibly Austrailian or European.
